For children aged 3 to 12. Online, anywhere; based in Chennai.
Helping children learn with less friction and more joy.
I work with children aged 3 to 12, their families and their schools, combining psychology, pedagogy and play-based tools to work on how a child learns, not just what.

What I do
I work on the how of learning: strengthening attention, working memory, self-regulation and sensory grounding, and building the home and classroom routines that help children thrive. My role is to optimise the learning process and support the whole child, making sure to connect families with clinical specialists whenever diagnostic or clinical expertise is needed.
Two doors, one practice
My work has always run along both of these lines at once. Pick whichever describes you.
Your child is bright. Sometimes they just need a different way in.
Homework that takes two hours. Instructions that don't seem to stick. A skill that just isn't clicking. Or simply too much screen time and not enough meaningful engagement. Every child learns differently, and sometimes the answer isn't more practice: it's finding a different way to approach it.
I help you understand what your child needs and turn that into practical support, whether they are struggling with learning, building a particular skill, or simply need purposeful ways to stay engaged.

Practical support from someone still in the room with children.
One-to-one teacher coaching, content and curriculum design, and learning resource creation, from someone who has taught in classrooms, trained government teachers and headmasters, and opened preschools from scratch.

Each side is the other's proof
The two halves feed each other. Training teachers is what keeps me honest about what is possible inside a real classroom; sitting with individual children is what keeps the training specific rather than theoretical. I would not be much good at either on its own.
Behind that: teaching in IB, private and community classrooms; two years as a Teach For India fellow; training government teachers and headmasters at Thermax Foundation; managing fellows for Teach For India in Chennai; setting up preschools at Flintoclass; working across education programmes at Freshworks.

How it starts
The same three steps for every family and every school. No forms first, no commitment, and nobody pays before we've spoken.
A free 20-minute call
You talk, I listen. At the end I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person. If I'm not, I'll try to point you to who is.
Something in writing
For a family: what I'd suggest and what it costs. For a school: a one-page proposal with scope, dates and fee. Once, in writing, no rate card and no chasing.
The work, reviewed as we go
Sessions, coaching, a resource or a project, with a check-in built in so we can change course rather than discover at the end that it didn't land.
In their words
Rukmani helped us choose toys and everyday activities for our toddler, and explained what each one was meant to build. It has made a real difference at home: our child enjoys learning, loves to experiment, and is clearly stimulated by play that has a purpose behind it. Her guidance is thoughtful, practical and easy to fit into family life.Ganesh & Eleonora, parents of a toddler · the Netherlands (Rukmani's brother and sister-in-law)
